Equality Chamber of Commerce DC
Building the Equality Chamber's Voice
The Equality Chamber of Commerce DC represents LGBTQ+ owned businesses across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Over a 90 day strategic partnership, Indigo developed the Chamber's social media plan across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, building a presence that reached well past its existing following and nearly doubled both reach and engagement in a quarter.
The Challenge
The Chamber's members were doing serious work across the region, but the DMV had not caught up to the size of the LGBTQ+ business community or its economic weight. The Chamber had a clear mandate, certification, corporate procurement access, advocacy, and community, and a small audience to carry it. The problem was visibility on two fronts at once: reaching business owners who did not yet know the Chamber existed, and reaching the corporate procurement leaders who needed to know its members were certified and ready to contract.
The Strategy
Indigo built the campaign on five content pillars: membership value, community and visibility, member spotlights, events, and thought leadership and advocacy. All five ran at once across three platforms on a fixed weekly cadence, with each platform carrying the message in the register that fit it. LinkedIn spoke to a corporate procurement audience in an authoritative, data led voice. Instagram and Facebook stayed warm and community driven. A monthly content calendar mapped every post to a pillar and an objective, and the plan built toward the moments that mattered, ending with a full ramp into Pride Month.
The Work
Indigo produced and scheduled at least three posts a week across all three platforms for the length of the partnership, wrote every caption and creative brief, and managed the calendar end to end. The team told member stories, framed the supplier diversity conversation for corporate decision makers, and helped launch Pride Month with a kickoff event that drew more than its 45 attendee target. Every month closed with a board ready report that tied the work back to the numbers.
The Outcome
Across the 90 day partnership, the Chamber's monthly reach grew 80 percent, from 9,154 views and impressions to 16,508, and engagement grew 89 percent, from 403 to 761. Instagram became the Chamber's largest visibility channel, with views nearly doubling over the quarter to 14,303 and accounts reached up 232.8 percent in June as Pride Month peaked. Across the quarter, roughly three quarters of that reach came from people who did not already follow the Chamber. Facebook engagement rose 14.9 percent, beating its 10 percent target, and publishing held above three posts a week the entire time. Month over month, the Chamber's voice kept landing well beyond its own following.
What stood out about working with Indigo was that they took the time to understand who we are as a Chamber and what we are trying to accomplish. They became part of the work, not simply an outside firm supporting it. That partnership helped us reach new audiences, strengthen engagement, and build a stronger foundation for how we communicate with our members and community.
